A review on the potential of bioacoustics for managing and monitoring pig welfare
Vocalizations have an important role in the study of animal emotion and welfare. With growing knowledge and new methods being developed and validated, often in relation to the monitoring of wild species, it is challenging for animal welfare scientists and the industry to stay up to date, and the potential of these tools for monitoring pig welfare may not be fully acknowledged. This project will allow the publication of a review summarizing such recent innovations, exploring their implications for pig welfare research and how they could cover practical needs, as well as to generate ideas for future use.
